While surfing iTunes for the 33 free downloads I got for test driving an Audi A3, I stumbled across the ELO record Time. In 1981 I played that cassette until it was destroyed, yet until I found it again on iTunes, I had completely forgotten it existed. As the organ prologue swells and a robotic voice brings “a message from another time,” this music from a concept album about time travel does indeed transport me back to 1981, unlocking a long-lost set of forgotten, associated memories. It takes my breath away in a way that only music can.
